BYD has officially launched the Sealion 07 DM-i, a plug-in hybrid SUV and the sister model to the all-electric Sealion 07 EV. This marks the fourth entry in the growing Sealion family.
In April, the Sealion lineup recorded 26,220 units sold, a strong 44.66% increase from March's 18,125 units — signaling booming demand for BYD’s new energy SUVs.
Starting from just $23,460, the Sealion 07 DM-i offers exceptional value in the hybrid SUV market.
BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has officially unveiled the Sealion 07 DM-i, a new mid-to-large hybrid SUV and the latest addition to its Ocean series. This model is a hybrid counterpart to the all-electric Sealion 07 EV, offering more choice for consumers in the new energy SUV segment.
The Sealion 07 DM-i comes in three versions, priced at RMB 169,800, RMB 179,800, and RMB 205,800 (starting from approximately $23,460), making it an attractive option for buyers seeking efficiency and performance.
Built on BYD’s latest fifth-generation DM hybrid platform (DM 5.0), the vehicle delivers significantly improved fuel efficiency, thanks to cutting-edge hybrid powertrain technology that debuted in May 2024.
The model measures 4,880 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,750 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
The Sealion 07 DM-i is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine paired with a 60-liter fuel tank. The engine delivers 115 kW of peak power and 225 Nm of torque.
The two entry-level trims use a single front-mounted electric motor producing 200 kW and 315 Nm of torque, enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in just 7.9 seconds—a solid balance of performance and efficiency.
The top-tier version of the Sealion 07 DM-i adds a rear motor delivering 150 kW of power and 340 Nm of torque, giving it all-wheel drive capability and a 0–100 km/h time of just 4.7 seconds.
All variants come equipped with BYD’s signature Blade Battery, featuring a 26.6 kWh capacity and offering a CLTC-rated electric-only range of 135 to 150 km—ideal for daily commuting with zero emissions.
With a full charge and full tank, the Sealion 07 DM-i offers an impressive combined range of up to 1,320 km, making it ideal for both city and long-distance travel.
The two lower-tier variants are equipped with BYD’s DiPilot 100 smart driving system, paired with the God’s Eye C driver assistance suite, which supports highway NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) for semi-autonomous driving.
The top-tier model upgrades to DiPilot 300 with the God’s Eye B system, adding urban NOA capabilities for more advanced autonomous functions in city environments.
Inside, the SUV features BYD’s DiLink 100 cockpit system and an intelligent AI voice assistant powered by DeepSeek's large language model, offering a more natural and responsive in-car interaction.
The Sealion 07 DM-i also offers an optional Ling Yuan drone system, a cutting-edge feature developed jointly by BYD and DJI, first introduced in March 2025.
This model is the fourth member of the growing and increasingly popular Sealion family, one of BYD's best-selling SUV lineups.
The series began with the Sealion 07 EV, launched in May 2024, built on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0 Evo. That all-electric model currently starts at RMB 189,800.
In September 2024, BYD added the Sealion 05 DM-i, a compact hybrid SUV, which now starts at a more affordable RMB 102,800.
On March 25, 2025, BYD expanded its SUV lineup with the launch of the Sealion 05 EV, an all-electric model starting at RMB 117,800.
In April, BYD sold 380,089 new energy vehicles (NEVs), marking a 21.34% increase year-on-year and a slight 0.71% rise from March, according to official figures released on May 1.
